Resources

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

—Arthur Ashe

Astrology and tarot were two subjects that created the initial spark of curiosity for me to explore the world of woo. I have collected many books, podcasts, and websites through years of studying these two modalities. I return to these sources frequently while interpreting my tarot cards and astrological birth chart with the current transits. This page is to serve as a resource guide for you as well. I will share old sources (and periodically include new additions) I have found helpful in my practice. I hope these sources help you along in your woo journey!

  • Book

Astrology For Yourself: How To Understand And Interpret Your Own Birth Chart. By Demetra George and Douglas Bloch.

This was the first book I bought when I learned about a birth chart. I wanted a book that would make the complex subject digestible. This book had completely delivered! If you're going to understand your birth chart by learning what each planet means in a given sign and house, then this book is for you.

Moonology: Working with the Magic of Lunar Cycles. By Yasmin Boland.

I love this book! This book is lovely if you want to incorporate the moon and her cycles into your practice. Yasmin creates a reference guide for working with the moon and gives you ideas that you can use to create a ritual specific to you by locating which house the moon is transiting in your birth chart.

  • Book/ Tarot Deck

Easy Tarot Handbook. By Josephine Ellershaw

This guided book comes with my Gilded Tarot deck done by Ciro Marchetti. Josephine’s interpretation of each card is drawn from the symbolism in the artwork throughout the deck. She weaves together a story and takes you on a journey through the Major and Minor Arcanas. This storytelling approach helps you create your interpretation and relationship with each card. I love this book and the tarot deck it pairs with.

  • Book/Oracle Deck

Black Moon Astrology Cards. By Susan Sheppard

This guided book comes with my Black Moon Astrology oracle deck. The images of the deck are what drew me in at first. There is something so magical about the artwork. It captures the very theme of the card perfectly. This book gives a backstory for each card and describes the essential pieces of each planet, sign, house, element, and astrological event. I use these cards to help me understand what planetary body or position in my birth chart is affected during my reading.

  • Podcast

Ghost Of A Podcast: Astrology + Advice with Jessica Lanyadoo.

If there is only one podcast you listen to on astrology, I recommend you subscribe to this one. Jessica has been a professional astrologer since 1994! She is a triple Capricorn, which means she will give you honest and sometimes kick-in-the-ass advice. She isn’t afraid to say the hard things (even when you don’t want her to) and teaches you healthy boundaries. I have learned so much from this woman!

The link will take you to her website, where she keeps a transcript of every episode. This is so helpful because you can always go back to an episode, read, and study the content she provides. This is such a valuable resource for any student of astrology.

  • Website

    Forever Conscious. Blog by Nikki.

There isn’t much information about Nikki on her website. But I have been following her blog for years now. Her horoscopes are always an interesting perspective for the upcoming transits, and she writes beautifully throughout the blog.

Why do I like this website? I consider myself a realist… okay, maybe more of a pessimist. But I can’t be all grey all of the time. Nikki provides light-hearted and optimistic views in her horoscopes without pushing a toxic positivity vibe.
